Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks his maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved service.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, took control to create a final set.
He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
